Climate & Environmental Security
Understanding the risks to society from climate change driven impacts on the environment is extremely complex. Food and water availability, energy supply, biodiversity and environmental degradation can all act as ‘threat multipliers’ for other social factors driving conflict.
The Institute is following an innovative cross-disciplinary, human and machine learning approach to make sense of these complex interactions and the vast data streams that describe them. This approach is made possible by working with departments and institutes across Imperial College and beyond. Medicine, computing, physics, biology, social sciences and engineering all play a key role.
