Overview

The Imperial and Corndel Data-Driven Leader Programme is one of four Data Academy courses designed to equip staff with the digital skills and technical proficiency needed to succeed in their current work roles. This programme is for experienced managers at Imperial who wish to develop the critical data skills they need to make insight-led decisions, communicate them and build data-literate teams. Delivered over fourteen months, this course will include:

  • Data Fundamentals, including Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Power Query
  • Automating data tasks
  • Leadership in a digital world
  • Leading Data-Driven Teams
  • Data storytelling for business impact

Delivery will include twelve hands-on group workshops with a data science expert, monthly 1-1 sessions with a coach, guided self-learning, and bite-sized practical projects.
You will also attend a masterclass programme delivered by Imperial academics from Executive Education and the Department of Computing on themes such as digital health innovation, cybersecurity, and ethics in data science. As such, this course is a unique opportunity to access leading-edge thinking in data science and technology.

Who should attend

The programme is for experienced people managers from any job family who would like to become more efficient and deliver greater organisational impact through their knowledge and use of data and digital tools.

Learners should be in a role where they interact with data on a weekly basis.

However, your primary role will not be manipulating and interrogating large amounts of data (staff in specialist data roles might wish to consider our Data Analyst or Data Engineer Programmes).

Eligibility

Applicants should:

  • Work in a people management role (you must have a direct report/s).
  • Interact with data on a weekly basis.
  • Have approval from your line manager.
  • Commit to the minimum learning requirement (approximately 6 hours per week).
  • Have Maths and English at Level 2 (i.e., GCSE grade A* - C / 9 – 4 or equivalent). If you do not have this, you will have an opportunity to complete it as part of the programme.
  • Have enough time remaining on your contract of employment to complete the programme (at least 14 months from the course start date).
  • Meet Department for Education rules around the Right to Work in the UK and residency.

Important: Learners who have already completed the Imperial College and Corndel Data-Driven Professional Programme are not eligible to apply, as both programmes are underpinned by the same apprenticeship standard (Level 3 Data Technician).
