Overview

Have you ever walked into a meeting and questioned your right to be there? Have you ever taken on a new job and felt you weren't the right person? For many people, this is a common life experience that can be debilitating if left unchecked.

This session focuses on identifying the implications for yourself and your work environment of the set of related behaviours often referred to as 'imposter syndrome'.

Who is it for?

This session is aimed at anyone who wants to consider how feeling like an imposter may impact their work, become more self-aware of how real it is for them, and explore various ways of dealing with it.

Learning objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Find out more about what the 'imposter syndrome' is and its prevalence among researchers and academics
  • Identify its implications for them and their work environment
  • Learn different ways to overcome it and thrive by being at their best
