Managing your development
Personal Review and Development Plan - PRDP
Everybody should take an interest in and responsibility for their own development. Your manager should be encouraging and supporting this activity, but there is a lot you can do yourself.
The Personal Review and Development Plan (PRDP)
The Personal Review and Development Plan (PRDP)
The Personal Review and Development Plan (PRDP), the College’s appraisal scheme, is a key tool for managers and staff to maintain top performance and feel engaged. It provides a strong basis for identifying development needs and opportunities. However, you do not need to wait until your PRDP happens to start making plans. You should regularly review your work and consider how you can make sure that you:
- Work effectively and achieve important goals.
- Plan to keep yourself updated and prepared for future challenges.
- Proactively seek and use the opportunities available.
- Contribute to the objectives of the team to which you belong.
- Comply with the CPD requirements of your profession.
Leaders, managers, supervisors, and staff aspiring to these roles will also find it useful to assess their development needs against Imperial Values. These are a set of seven statements that articulate how the College expects staff in these roles to behave.
You can find more information on the Personal Review and Development Plan, including guidance notes and forms, on the HR website: Personal Review and Development Plan (PRDP)
