Who should attend
This practical training will benefit those who are working with flammable substances in labs and workshop based on risk assessment:
- Staff and postgraduate students
- Safety Officers
- Laboratory Managers
- Workshop Managers
- Supervisors and Technicians
All College participants must complete the mandatory e-Learning course Fire Safety and Awareness Training prior to attendance.
Faculty of Natural Sciences (FONS) PhDs and postgraduates will have separate sessions organised and should contact their Faculty Safety Officers in the first instance.
The workshop is dependent on the availability of Fire Officers and weather conditions. The Fire Office will also run Fire Wardens Training as part of the Fire Safety Policy.

The course is run on a number of occasions in order to cater for staff working in particular departments, divisions and buildings in the College. Additional training sessions are also held upon request e.g. for Residences staff during the Easter and summer vacations.
