Our frequently asked questions

How do I book to attend?

You can attend as many sessions as you like during the week. You just need to book onto each session using our booking form.

How do I log onto a session?

When you book onto a session on our Virtual Open Week we will email you a calendar invite which includes a unique link. If you book onto multiple sessions throughout the week, we will email you separate calendar invites for each session.

Please click the link in the calendar invite at the start of the session to join the talk you booked onto.

You will be directed to Microsoft Teams Live which is the platform our Virtual Open Week is hosted on.

What platform will you be using?

Our Virtual Open Week is hosted on Microsoft Teams Live.

If you don’t have the Microsoft Teams app installed on your device, you can still access each session using the web browser version.

What happens when I join a session?

When you join the session, you will notice that your camera is automatically turned off and your microphone is muted.

You’ll also see a few people on the screen. These are our presenters and may include our admissions tutors, teaching staff and current students.

The session will start with a presentation, followed by a question and answer section with current students and teaching staff.

How do I ask questions in the sessions?

If you have any questions during the session, you can type them in the live chat. You have the option to post your questions anonymously. A staff member or student will reply with an answer as soon as possible.

We will publish the most popular questions so other attendees can see them.

I’ve booked a session but realised I can’t make it, do I need to cancel?

As this is a virtual event, there is no need to cancel your booking.

If you can’t make the session you booked onto, we will still email you a link a few days after the Virtual Open Week. You can use this link to re-watch all sessions that took place throughout the week.

How can I get an idea of what the campus and facilities are like?

You can explore our South Kensington Campus, including our laboratories, lecture theatres and teaching spaces, as well as our halls of residence with our Virtual Tour: Imperial360

I’ve already booked but I’ve seen another session I’d like to attend, how do I change my booking?

There is no need to cancel or change your original booking.

You will need to complete our booking form again and book onto the other session you would like to attend.

Are sessions being recorded?

All sessions are being recorded so don’t worry if you join a session late or miss it completely.

We’ll email you a link a few days after the Virtual Open Week. You can use this link to re-watch all sessions that took place throughout the week – including sessions you may not have originally booked onto.
