Research at the Sir Michael Uren Biomedical Engineering Research Hub will help address some of the most pressing healthcare problems of our time. It will initially focus on seven core themes:

  • Musculoskeletal technology and rehabilitative medicine
  • Neuromuscular rehabilitation
  • Cardiovascular technology
  • Cancer technology
  • Regenerative medicine
  • Synthetic biology
  • Engineered medicines

Just some of the research projects that will find a home in the new building include studies to understand how the central nervous system encodes movements; the development of minimally invasive implants; and research into new materials that help the body to repair itself after surgery or injury.
