Imperial College currently subscribes to the Higher Education Degree Datacheck (HEDD), a shared service which allows employers or statutory bodies and their agents to verify basic degree and enrolment information about you. Most commonly these checks are made if you register with an employment agency or are offered a job.

The HEDD system has been developed and is managed by Graduate Prospects Limited, a higher education agency. It was developed in consultation with universities, employers and screening agencies and is funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).

During such period as the College subscribes to HEDD, the College will supply the following parts of your educational record to HEDD for these purposes:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Course
  • Qualification
  • Enrolment date
  • Graduation date
  • Classification obtained
  • Dates of attendance

These details may be held in the HEDD system for the duration of your expected working life.

The online candidate verification service allows registered enquirers to input data provided by you. In real time the service will check the information given against an encrypted dataset from the College’s student records and verify it if it is matched. In certain circumstances where no verification is provided, the query will come through to the College for manual processing.

An employer or agent who makes an enquiry about you through HEDD is required to obtain your consent in advance for every enquiry made.  This is a condition of use of the service.

Staff at Graduate Prospects may need to access your data in order to handle enquiries made through the HEDD system.

Aggregate data (data which does not identify you as an individual) may be published by the College (or third parties with the consent of the College), but no data which personally identifies you will be disclosed to any third parties.

If you wish to find out more about HEDD please contact heddhelp@prospects.ac.uk at Graduate Prospects.

You can choose to exclude your information from HEDD.  If you do so employers may not be able to verify your credentials.  To opt out of HEDD, please email student.records@imperial.ac.uk

Please visit Verify Student Qualifications for information for 3rd parties.
