ACGI Medal for Excellence (by City & Guilds College Association)
Annually in July, the Department nominates a Final Year undergraduate to the Faculty, looking for academic excellence, breadth of interests-especially beyond academic-, innovation, adaptability and enterprise in their work as well as commitment to a career in engineering.

The Centenary BEng/MEng Prize
The Centenary Prize is awarded annually to “the best BEng or MEng student in the final year of an undergraduate Bioengineering course for the best final year result." With it comes a financial 
reward of £100. The money and a certificate are handed out on Graduation Day.

The Governor’s BEng/MEng Prize
The Governor’s BEng/MEng Prize is awarded annually to "the best BEng or MEng student in the final year of an undergraduate Bioengineering course for all-round excellence." With it comes a financial 
reward of £100. The money and a certificate are handed out on Graduation Day.

Cadzow Smith Engineering Award
This prize is endowed by Trust Fund of The Worshipful Company of Engineers, for “for excellence on an accredited undergraduate engineering course conducted at one of the eleven universities within London and the Home Counties. Besides academic excellence, the recipients of the awards must have demonstrated self-confidence, professional awareness, leadership and sound common sense.” With it comes a financial reward of £2,500. Usually, nominations are called for towards the end of a calendar year. A candidate is nominated by the department to the Faculty, who select the College nominee. Candidates must be a British Citizen with the right of residence in the UK and be in the final year, studying for an MEng.

Royal Academy Engineering Leadership Awards (Standard and Advanced)
Awards are open to undergraduates of an accredited MEng engineering degree. For the Standard Award, they must be UK national of any year. For the Advanced Award, they must be second year of all nationalities. Applicants must plan to pursue a career in engineering. In addition, for the Advanced Award, they are expected to work towards leadership positions within 5 years of graduation. They must also be intellectually and technically strong, have personal drive and clarity of career ambitions and have a breadth of interests. Value: up to £5000 (Advanced) and £300 (Standard).

Professor John Lever Memorial Prize
Annually in June, the Professor John Lever Memorial Prize is awarded by the Deaprtment for ‘Outstanding Student Engagement in Bioengineering’. Recognising and paying tribute to Professor Lever’s contribution to students’ welfare and education, the Department created this prize which has a value of £200. The winner of this prize is automatically nominated for the Faculty award of the Professor John Lever Memorial Award.

Awards, Grants and Prizes for Postgraduates

Ash Prize
Annually in May, the Ash Prize is awarded by the Department for the best academic performance in the MSc programme. The value of the prize is £400.

Bagrit Prize
Annually in May, the Bagrit Prize is awarded by the Department for the best MSc project, taking into consideration the student's potential for making a contribution to Biomedical Engineering. The value of the prize is £200.

General Prizes and Awards (for UG and PG by industry and professional bodies)

The IET Ambition Awards 
include awards, scholarship and prizes for undegraduates and postgraduates. Applications cycles for scholarships usually open in January for implementation in October, if chosen. Details and conditions can be found on the IET website.

Innovation Hothouse
Annually by May/June, the programme ‘Innovation Hothouse’ by the Royal Academy of Engineering invites final year undergraduates and MSc students studying towards an engineering degree to present their projects with the aim of pursuing their projects commercially.

Old Centralian's Trust
Various awards and grants administered by the Trust are traditionally available to students of the Bioengineering as one of the seven engineering departments of the former City & Guilds College.

Engineering Professors' Council Student Awards
This organisation is promoting excellence in engineering in higher education and offers prizes on a occasional basis. Watch the EPC website for more details.

Student Award for Outstanding Achievement
Each year the College calls for nominations for the Student Award for Outstanding Achievement in any extramural activity that brings credit to the College.
