Once you have enrolled to the PhD programme and joined the department, we will host a brief induction session to introduce you to the department and to several important members of staff. The main body of incoming students joins in October each year; however, as PhD students can join us anytime during the year, the Senior Postgraduate Administrator will arrange an induction for you if you join us outside of October. 

The departmental induction will generally consist of the following: 

• Introduction and welcome from Professor Peter Cheung (Head of Department), Dr Mazdak Ghajari (Director of Postgraduate Studies), and Dr Pelin Demirel (PG Tutor). 
• Your PhD journey - Nicholas Moult (Senior Postgraduate Administrator) will cover your key research milestones, systems and processes, and introduce you to the wider departmental and College communities. 
• Health and Safety - Ingrid Logan (Senior Technician & Health and Safety Officer) will run through health and safety procedures in the department. Your supervisor will induct you to safety measures in your lab separately; please contact them if they have yet to do so.
