“Necessity is the mother of invention, and in mobile financial services and technology, Africa is leapfrogging the rest of the world.” Natalie Jabangwe (MBA 2012), CEO Ecocash.
Africa is the global leader in mobile money, with 50 million new accounts created on the continent in 2019, and an estimated 181 million active users of mobile bank accounts. The entrepreneurial environment in Africa has been progressing immensely in the last decade, especially in Fintech and mobile solutions, with Imperial alumni significantly contributing to the success of many business ecosystems springing up all over the continent.
Our panel of alumni and industry leaders representing four major players in the mobile banking sector will discuss digital transformation and starting up in Africa, in particular in financial services, and their thoughts on the future of mobile money. They will also give their insights on opportunities on the continent and share tips for fellow alumni and students on jumping on to this exciting trajectory.
This event will be of particular interest to alumni based in Africa who want to learn more about digital transformation, the mobile revolution, and Fintech on the continent, and others around the world interested in the lessons we can learn from global leaders in this field.
