Text: Being Black in STEM, Insights on Higher Education

We have some highly talented Black Chemical Engineers who would like to share their experience and knowledge of Higher Education with you. Each session will end with a Q&A session where you can ask them your burning questions, like how did you choose what to study? What’s the application process like? How did you find the first week of term?

Why are we running these sessions?

Black people are underrepresented in STEM which means fewer role models and less peer support for young people who are thinking about their education and what their next steps will be.

These webinars are open to everyone regardless of race, but we felt that Black History Month was a good opportunity to run a series of webinars for Black students by Black students.

What age are the sessions suitable for?

The first session, How to pick your A-Level subjects based on your interests, is designed for students who are thinking about which A-Level subjects to choose.

All other sessions are aimed at students who are currently studying for their A-Levels, but younger students are welcome to join if they are interested in finding out more about going to university.

How to join

Register for one or more of the sessions via Eventbrite and we will send you a link to watch the session live on Youtube. If you are unable to watch live, the sessions will be available afterwards on our YouTube channel.

Each session will end with a Q&A, so come prepared with your questions – or submit in advance.
