cyber security

The growing adoption of technology in healthcare has come with increasing vulnerability to cyber security threats, capable of compromising patient safety, patient data confidentiality and care budgets.

Evidence reveals that healthcare systems are still lagging behind other sectors in adapting to this challenge. Moreover, there is limited understanding of existing healthcare cyber security efforts on a global scale.

The challenges in guiding cyber security planning across high income countries (HICs) and in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are vast and varied. In this Institute of Global Health Innovation Forum, we will gather a range of expertise, experience and insight into the current challenges, needs and opportunities in cyber security in healthcare from a global perspective.

The Forum will explore recent cyber incidents in healthcare and the implications of such incidents to quality care, identifying potential ways forward based on the lessons learned.

Speakers:

– Dr Saira Ghafur, Digital Health Lead, Institute of Global Health Innovation
– Niki O’Brien, Policy Fellow in Global Health, Institute of Global Health Innovation
– Professor Deeph Chana, Co-Director, Institute for Security Science & Technology
