Caroline Lasser – Computing quantum dynamics in the semiclassical regime

Many quantum dynamical systems are described by wave packets. They are highly oscillatory, highly localised and move in high-dimensional configuration spaces. The governing equation is the time-dependent Schrödinger equation in semiclassical scaling. The talk is a guided tour through the recent Acta Numerica review on numerical computation in this regime, which is joint work with Christian Lubich. We will visit
single Gaussian beam approximations, continuous superpositions of them, and the so-called linearised initial value representation.
