Talks from recent new staff at the Dyson School of Design Engineering,  Dr Rebecca Stewart and Dr Michel-Alexandre Cardin, will cover the latest research development and exciting opportunities in wearable technologies, innovation, and complex systems design. Fields within the domain of cyber-physical systems – closely integrated physical and computer-based systems with increasing significance within a wide variety of applications from healthcare to transportation.

 

Dr Stewart will speak about her work with binaural audio and e-textiles for creating wearable computing interfaces.

 

Dr Cardin will describe his latest efforts to develop computational aided engineering methods enabling flexibility in systems design operating under uncertainty, with the goal of improving economic performance, resilience, and sustainability.

 

Dr Stewart joins DSDE from the Centre for Digital Music and Centre of Intelligent Sensing at Queen Mary University. Dr Cardin was previously at the National University of Singapore following completion of a PhD at MIT
