I analyse and model epidemiological data to characterise how diseases spread and to assess how interventions can change the course of epidemics. My research aims to provide scientific and evidence-based information that can be used for public health policy decision making, to minimise the morbidity and mortality associated with infectious diseases and optimise the use of the available resources. I have studied several emerging viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, dengue, Zika and Ebola. 

Having the privilege to work with world leading experts is a constant source of inspiration not just for their sharp scientific thinking – their drive and passion is contagious too!

I’m proud of having contributed to the international response against SARS-CoV-2, as part of the Imperial College COVID-19 Response Team, of having informed the WHO guidelines on optimal use of the first dengue vaccine, and of having been part of the WHO Ebola Response Team during the 2013-2016 Ebola epidemic in West Africa.

I’m also extremely proud of the success of my past and current students and group members beyond being a proud mum of two – lively, sometimes cheeky and totally wonderful – children!  

A highlight of my lockdown routine has been PE with Joe. My family has also mastered the art of solving jigsaw puzzles and we are now working together on our first 1,000 pieces one!
