AB - © 14CBMS. We have developed a novel microfluidic platform to generate asymmetric giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs). Water-in-oil (W/O) droplets formed in a lipid-containing oil flow are transferred across an oil-water interface, facilitating the self-assembly of a phospholipid bilayer. We have confirmed the presence of unilameller lipid bilayers in each vesicle by incorporating fluorescently-tagged lipid into the membrane bilayer.
