SHORT PROFILE

I am a climate and environmental scientist specializing in applied research at the intersection of human health and the environment. My research generally takes an interdisciplinary approach and covers several areas, with a strong focus on regional climate change and climate impact assessment.

My primary emphasis is on the identification and analysis of the underlying relationships and effects of diverse weather and climate variables on human health at regional to local levels, particularly within the context of global climate change. In this regard, it is imperative to provide detailed information on changes in climate at resolutions relevant for impact assessment, including the projection of spatial distributions and temporal patterns of key climate factors that substantially influence human health.

My methodological expertise lies in the fields of data science, statistical downscaling, and climate change projections. Currently, my research at the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology is centred around climate change impacts on infectious diseases.

EDUCATION & SCIENTIFIC CAREER

I was awarded a PhD in Climate and Environmental Sciences at the Faculty of Applied Computer Science, University of Augsburg, in August 2023. My PhD was located in the field of Regional Climate Change & Health (Environmental Health Sciences) at the interface of physical climate research and health sciences. My research work focused on modelling and projecting single and compound occurrences of elevated levels of surface ozone and heat under current and future European climate. During my PhD, I worked as a research assistant at the Faculty of Applied Computer Science as well as the Faculty of Medicine. I received a scholarship for excellent young academics (funded by the Free State of Bavaria for realizing equal opportunities for women in research and teaching) for the final phase of my PhD in 2022.

Prior to completing my PhD, I pursued and completed a Master of Science (MSc) in Climate and Environmental Sciences at the University of Augsburg in 2018, following my graduation in Geography (BSc, Minor: Economics) at LMU Munich in 2016. During my university education, I engaged in both international study abroad programs and internship opportunities. Specifically, during my Bachelor's program, I spent one semester abroad at the University of Alberta in Canada in 2014.
