Horizon 2020 Brexit update
Please note that the result of the UK referendum on EU membership has no immediate effect on UK applications to Horizon 2020 (H2020) or on UK participation in current H2020 projects. This has been confirmed by Jo Johnson, Minister of State for Universities and Science and also by the European Commission. In other words, Imperial’s academic staff can continue to apply to, participate in, and receive EU funding under all three pillars of H2020. This will remain the situation for at least the next two years, until the conclusion of the UK’s exit negotiations with the EU. These exit negotiations will not start until the UK Government invokes Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, a task which David Cameron has stated is for his successor as Prime Minister to undertake, not for him. Please contact the RO EU Team if you have any queries about H2020. If you are actively being discouraged by European partners from leading large bids or consortia, we would be interested to hear about this please.
