Eligibility criteria

The main eligibility requirements for undertaking an intercalated BSc at Imperial are that you:

  • have completed at least two years of a medical course elsewhere;
  • have permission to intercalate at Imperial for your BSc from your home medical school; and
  • will be able to return to your home medical school and resume studies on your medical course there after completing the BSc at Imperial

We may also consider applicants from other strong fields relevant to Global Health e.g. Biomedical Sciences and Nursing.

Applications for the intercalated BSc degrees are completed online:

Internal applicants

Students on the course primarily come from the Imperial MBBS, though a significant number also join on an intercalated basis from medical degree courses at other institutions, as well from the Imperial BSc Biomedical Science.  The staff members teaching on the course are largely based in the Imperial School of Public Health, though contributions also come from staff in other departments/divisions of the College’s Faculty of Medicine and also from the Imperial College Business School.

External applicants

Students who are external to the College should apply online.

Application guidelines can be downloaded from the Online Applications Site. Please note that the guidance document and the online application system are primarily for postgraduate courses, but they also both relate to intercalated BSc applications.
