Ascot

Ascot is an affluent village in east Berkshire, approximately 2 miles west of Silwood and 25 miles west of London. Ascot is famous as the location of Ascot Racecourse which hosts the prestigious Royal Ascot race meeting every June.

Within the town facilities tend to be geared towards the racecourse, but there is a small range of shops on the wide High Street. Most of the facilities one would expect to find in a small town are here, including a supermarket, petrol station and many cafes. Heatherwood Hospital is at the western edge of the town. Ascot has a train station on a bi-section of the railway line from London's Waterloo station to Reading, Bagshot, Aldershot and Guildford, the line is operated by South West Trains.

Sunningdale

Sunningdale is located close to the border between Berkshire and Surrey, 1.5 miles from Silwood and 24 miles west of London. Sunningdale has a railway station on the Waterloo to Reading line which most students use, it has a taxi rank but is a 15 minute walk from campus.

Sunningdale has several restaurants and a Waitrose supermarket.

Cheapside

Bordering the northern side of the Silwood Park campus, Cheapside is a small village with a pleasant pub, The Thatched Tavern. There are numerous other bars, pubs and restaurants close to the campus, especially within Ascot. Two of the closest are The Belvedere Arms and The Royal Oak.

Windsor

Windsor is widely known as the site of Windsor Castle, one of the official residences of the British Royal Family. It is immediately south of the River Thames, which forms its boundary with Eton.

As a result of the castle, Windsor is a popular tourist destination and has facilities usually found in larger towns: two railway stations, a theatre and several large hotels. There is a wide selection of gift shops around the castle, together with shops and restaurants in Windsor Royal Station. The main shopping street includes an independent department store as well as national chains.

Windsor Great Park, a large deer park of 5,000 acres, lies between Windsor and Silwood Park. The park was, for many centuries, the private hunting ground of Windsor Castle and dates primarily from the mid-13th century. Now largely open to the public, the parkland is often open as a recreation area and always partially open for visitors.

Bracknell

Bracknell lies 11 miles to the southeast of Reading, 10 miles southwest of Windsor and 30 miles west of central London. The town has a population of 52,696 and all the facilities associated with a large town.
