AB - This abstract outlines how musculoskeletal modeling formulations driven by electrophysiological recordings can be used to understand the complex dynamics of human-machine interaction in healthy and impaired individuals wearing lower limb orthoses. We investigate two scenarios. The first involves a healthy individual walking with a powered exoskeleton. The second involves an impaired individual walking with a passive knee-ankle-foot orthosis. We demonstrate how offline and online modeling can be used for predicting the individual’s neuromusculoskeletal responses to the devices connected in parallels to their limbs.
