Recent Measures of Esteem

  • 2011 - Invited to speak, Novel multi-scale methods for porous media flow II, Edinburgh, UK Feb 14-16
  • 2009- Invited to speak, International Conference on CO2 Sequestration Processes, Reykjavik, Iceland, 5-12 Sept.
  • 2008 - Invited to speak, Gordon Conference on Flow and Transport in Permeable Media

Research Areas

  • Multiphase fluids through porous media, with emphasis on fully compositional three-phase flow
  • Comparison of analytical solutions with experimental data for three-component three-phase flow
  • Solution of the four component three-phase problem with realistic phase behavior
  • Multiphase flow including hysteresis effects
  • Streamline and finite element simulation of multicomponent flow

My research has a wide variety of applications in both enhanced oil recovery and environmental applications.  For example, multicomponent flow of three phases can occur in water alternating gas injection in enhanced oil recovery or carbon-dioxide sequestration projects. Three-phase flow can also occur in surfactant enhanced remediation of aquifers that are contaminated with oleic phase chemicals such at TCE, PCE, jet fuel, and gasoline.
