Project: Ion diffusion in ionic liquids

Ionic liquids have been the subject of much research since the discovery of the first ionic liquid that can be dated back to the early 20^th century. Their properties such as being non-flammable, having low volatility, relatively high conductivity and wide electrochemical windows have made ionic liquids suitable candidates to be used as electrolytes in various electrochemical devices. A thorough understanding on the mechanism of ion diffusion in ionic liquids is therefore crucial, particularly for the electrochemical applications. This project is focused on the investigation of ion diffusion in ionic liquids using fluorescence spectroscopy technique.
