1) Research Associate in physics based modelling of Lithium-ion batteries 

We are looking to hire a modeller to develop high fidelity models for lithium-ion batteries. You will be working with the wider experimental team to gather data for model parametrisations and validation and support the implementation of control algorithms onto the battery management system. 

The candidate will be required to:

  • Parametrise, validate and upgrade physics-based models of lithium-ion battery coupled degradation
  • Develop techniques to account for the magnitude of uncertainty in degradation prediction
  • Work with the wider experimental team to gather data for model parametrisations and validation

2) Research Associate in experimental testing of Li-ion batteries 

We are seeking experienced battery experimentalists to work on battery degradation tests and data processing, and to join our diverse and expanding team at the centre of cutting-edge research in electrochemical storage.

The candidate will be required to:

  • Identify and develop suitable techniques for the collection and analysis of data
  • Design test rigs and experiments to answer research questions
  • Assist modellers in parametrising physical and reduced order battery models

3) Research Associate in physics based modelling of Solid State Batteries 

We are looking to hire a modeller to develop mechanistic and phenomenological models of next generation solid-state batteries (SSB). ­This position will focus on modelling degradation mechanisms in electrodes, including silicon composite electrodes, which needs to capture the underlying physics that governs performance and degradation. 

The candidate will be required to:

  • Develop suitable electro-chemo-mechanical finite element models of silicon graphite electrodes and Solid State Battery cells
  • Use available data to identify and model relevant mechanisms that govern degradation

4) PhD studenthsips in Battery Engineering.

We are seeking motivated and talented PhD students for multiple industry-sponsored PhD studentship starting in 2024. These will be PhDs in battery engineering, with topics including:

  • DEGRADATION AND FAILURE
  • THERMAL MANAGEMENT
  • PHYSICS BASED MODELLING
  • ESTIMATION AND CONTROL
  • CELL AND PACK DESIGN
  • EXPERIMENTAL TESTING
  • LIFETIME PREDICTION

The candidate should have:

  • Master degree in Engineering, Physics or Maths, Electrochemistry or a closely related discipline
  • Cell level/battery experience desirable
  • Excellent English oral and written skills
  • Ability to organise own work.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team.
