About me

Ildar Farkhatdinov is a research associate in department of Bioengineering of Imperial College of London. He got his Ph.D. in Robotics from University Pierre and Marie Curie in 2013 UPMC Paris VI Univ (Paris, France), M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Korea University of Technology and Education in 2008 (Cheonan, South Korea), and B.Sc. with honors in Automation and Control from Moscow State University of Technology STANKIN (Moscow, Russia) in 2006.

His primary research interests are in the field of human-robot/computer interaction, in particular haptics, teleoperation, human perception and biomechanics, as well in design and control of robotic systems. He currently works on human posture balance control and its implementation for walking exoskeleton in the Human Robotics Group of Prof. Etienne Burdet.

My Ph.D. thesis was on modeling the verticality estimation and head stabilization behavior in humans and animals, and application of the model for human like robotics systems. The results are based on the studies of biological systems, control theory methods and robotics applications. The research was performed under supervision of Prof. Vincent Hayward (UPMC) under strong collaboration with Prof. Hannah Michalska (McGill) and Prof. Alain Berthoz (College de France).

My Master studies were on development and evaluation of human-robot interfaces for teleoperation of mobile robotic systems. The studies were performed in the group of Prof. Jee-Hwan Ryu in collaboration with Prof. Jury Poduraev. The results of the study were also applied to surgical robotic systems.
