NSPCC guidance on use of images

NSPCC image sharing briefing Managers and organisers of events involving children should review and follow the relevant college guidance if they will be creating, sharing and storing images of children. There are particular risks in the publication of images of children, for example if the picture is shared alongside identifiable information or if the image is copied and manipulated. Each image becomes part of a child’s digital footprint, and it is essential that they are consulted and consent to the use of their image. For children under the age of 16 then this consent should be obtained from the parent/guardian.

Staff are reminded that the ICO has published guidance on Taking Photographs in Schools which is aimed at Local Education Authorities and those working within schools, colleges and universities.
