Join us to celebrate the pleasures of snail mail and connection in our postcard making workshop, where we’ll be crafting beautiful postcards to send to friends from recycled materials that you have in your home.

We’ll be exploring the intention and emotion of different modes of communication, how the speed of communication affects this and how online communication is affecting how we connect with others.

All you will need to take part is:

  • Recycled materials! Rummage your recycle bin to find some materials like cardboard boxes, old magazines, junk mail, scrap paper etc. Get creative there is no right or wrong!
  • Cutting and sticking stuff! Scissors and adhesive of some form (tape, glue, stickers etc) will help you to assemble your postcard
  • Decorative elements! Biros, pencils, felt tips, paints, highlighters, string, stickers, magazine cut outs, interesting colours and textures from your recycled materials etc.
  • Link to the worksheet! Optional download of our worksheet so you can do this activity again.

This workshop will be led by artist and creative producer Hana Ayoob and Imperial Design Engineering PhD student Mimi Nguyen, who will be on hand to answer all your art and communication questions – and to ask you some questions in return!.

Suitable for all levels, from beginners to lockdown artistes!
