Life Sciences is at the core of every major issue facing the world today, from climate change to infectious disease.

Our Department of Life Sciences is one of the largest life science groups in Europe, with over 100 faculty, 180 research fellows and post-doctoral researchers, 200+ PhD students and 180+ Masters students. We are helping conquer malaria, seeking solutions for antimicrobial resistance, and studying the planet’s whole ecology.

We have 300 staff and our research spans levels of organisation from atoms to the biosphere, with external research grants totalling £20+ million. We run two major undergrad programs in Biological Sciences and Biochemistry with nearly 1000 students. We host 302 Masters students, and 145 PhD students.

Our department is based on two campuses: in South Kensington and Silwood Park near Ascot in Berkshire.
