ESRC Business Boost

The College has been awarded Business Boost funding from ESRC as part of our existing Impact Acceleration Account to help our social science community to position itself favourably to respond to future Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF) opportunities and other funding opportunities through the National Productivity Investment Fund (NPIF) where industry partners must be involved. The investment also has a broader purpose, which is to increase awareness and engagement of students with business through the London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS DTP), of which Imperial is a partner, and recognise the value and role of social science in the Industrial Strategy.

Activities must be able to demonstrate how they will create specific impact from social science research that has been conducted within the remit of ESRCIt is not necessary that the impact activities proposed relate specifically to individual research projects or studentships previously funded by ESRC, nor do individuals need to have been supported by ESRC in the past.

Activities could include, but are not limited to:

  • Scoping possible mechanisms, opportunities and/or ways of working with business
  • Workshops/meetings
  • Training in industry engagement
  • Networking events with industry
  • Secondments to strengthen connections with partners/scope potential collaboration opportunities

Activities must be completed and allocated funding spent by 31st March 2019. No primary research will be eligible under this funding.
