The continuing development of silicon technology and the growing demand for more signal processing and functionality integrated on a single chip, has resulted in a growing need for the design of effective analog integrated circuits.

Analog circuits and systems have an important role in the implementation and application of silicon technology across a wide range of frequencies and for many functions. At all stages in the economic cycle having circuit designers with effective analog skills can give organisations a vital competitive edge, so they need to ensure that their engineers are appropriately skilled in their understanding of analog design techniques to meet current needs.

More information

Course aims

This course will:

Give a state-of-the-art review of the principles, concepts and techniques required to produce successful designs of analog integrated circuits using CMOS technologies.

Expose participants to the methods used in the processing and design of such circuits, including electrical modelling, characterisation of the process parameters, SPICE simulation techniques, testability considerations, and methods of experimental verification.

Combine an academic viewpoint with practical examples and experience from industry.

Who should participate?

The course has been designed for circuit designers who need to implement analog integrated circuit design using CMOS technologies.

It will provide experienced analog circuit designers with a valuable updating on the latest and forthcoming developments in the field. At the same time through its careful structure, it will give those with less experience or who are considering entering the field, an indispensable grounding in the fundamentals of the technology, and ways in which it can be implemented successfully.

Participants should have a general knowledge of analog circuits, electrical circuit analysis, and familiarity with integrated circuit technology.

Course structure

The course will consist of a series of well-illustrated lectures on the above topics, while at the same time include ample opportunities for participants to discuss the material and its relevance to their own practical problems, with one of the leading international authorities in the field of analog circuit design.

A comprehensive set of course notes will be provided to support the lectures. A Certificate of Attendance from Imperial College London will be awarded to all participants on completion of the course.
