Engineering Review Meeting (ERM) and Technical Advisor Group (TAG) 

An Engineering Review Meeting (ERM) and a Technical Advisor Group (TAG) meeting shall be arranged for projects valued over £150,000 at Stages 1, 2, 3, and 4 by the Project Manager. The ERM should be arranged a week prior to the TAG meeting. 

Engineering Review Meeting (ERM)

The ERM shall review and comment on the design proposals for the Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) including BMS; fire; security; health, safety and environment; energy; and ICT systems. 

The Project Manager shall arrange a meeting by contacting the Estates Administrator at least one week prior to the Technical Advisor Group meeting date (please refer to the fixed TAG dates below). The Project Manager should ensure that all information including drawings and specifications are issued to the ERM members one week prior to the ERM date to allow time for review.

The Design Team shall present to the ERM the design proposals for the Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) to include BMS; fire; security; health, safety and environment; energy; and ICT systems.

The Project Manager will take notes to ensure items are registered and then tracked. The agenda, attendees list and tracker for the actions can be found in the ERM terms of reference.

Technical Advisor Group (TAG)

The Technical Advisor Group (TAG) meeting dates are fixed each year. Project Managers shall contact the Estates Administrator to arrange a presentation slot for their project at Stages 1, 2, 3, and 4, providing 

  • Project code
  • Project title
  • Presentation lead
  • Length of presentation

Membership of TAG are key College staff that are consulted on the design proposals and options for all projects. Attendance at the meeting is mandatory for TAG members:

  • Director of Estates Operations (Chair)
  • Engineering Manager
  • Head of Disability Services
  • Network and Infrastructure Manager
  • Head of Security
  • Chief Fire Officer
  • Cost Manager, Finance Division
  • Director of Safety
  • Head of Space Management and Planning
  • Head of Energy and Environment
  • Head of Building Operations
  • Head of Maintenance

The Project Manager shall issue to the TAG members no later than one week prior to the meeting the project information to be presented by the Design Team. Technical issues shall be addressed by the Engineering Review Meeting unless they require additional input from TAG members.

Presentations shall be delivered by the Project Manager or a relevant consultant from the appropriate discipline using Microsoft PowerPoint.

The ERM/TAG tracker of actions from each presentation acts as a record of actions to be reviewed at the next Stage.

The Project Manager should issue a combined ERM/TAG tracker to ERM and TAG members within one week of the TAG meeting day
