My role within Women in Computing:

Industry Liaison

About me:

I come from Greece, which is where I did my MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I am a student at the CDT in Medical Imaging of Imperial College London and King’s College London, which consists of one year for an MRes in Medical Imaging Sciences and three years for PhD. I am currently in the 2nd year of my PhD in the Department of Computing at Imperial, and I am based at the BioMedIA group, which is focused on Medical Image Computing. My main role in the Women in Computing Committee  is to reach out to companies in order to find speakers for our exciting future talks and events! I am an always ballet lover, and a recent yoga lover.

Area(s) of research:

Medical Image Computing, Artificial Intelligence

What I love about Computing:

Technology is a tool that can be used in various ways and I believe the most noble is for society’s greater good. Extracting diagnostic information from medical images is truly rewarding because I can clearly see its impact on people’s lives. Using technology for Healthcare can create hope that answers can be given to even the hardest questions.

What being part of the Women in Computing Network means to me and why I joined:

Women are highly underrepresented in our field. Being part of a network makes me feel stronger and like I really belong here. Hopefully, our efforts will help increase female representation in STEM.

Who inspires me:

All women out there, achieving their goals, whatever these are.

Something people might not know about me is:

I am a jigsaw puzzle enthusiast (maniac :P)
