What are the telephone campaigns?

Our telephone campaigns are an exciting opportunity for students to make an important contribution towards attracting essential philanthropic support from alumni of Imperial.

During each campaign, we aim to contact thousands of alumni, sharing news and upcoming events at Imperial, and inviting alumni to support the College through a range of giving opportunities. These donations will help to fund projects across the College, particularly scholarships and financial support for current students. For more information about our current fundraising priorities, visit the Giving homepage.

The telephone campaign isn’t just about fundraising; it is also a great way for Imperial to stay in touch with its alumni and build a long term relationship with them. Alumni enjoy hearing about what it is like to be a student at Imperial today, and reminiscing about their own experiences.

Join the team!

Every year the College recruits a dedicated team of trained student fundraisers who are passionate about Imperial and enjoy the opportunity to engage with the alumni community. The Spring 2024 campaign runs remotely for 4 weeks, from Monday 12 February to Sunday 10 March.

The telethon is a great opportunity to boost your CV, and the professional skills you will develop are highly valued by employers. We will support you with training throughout the campaign, and you will have the opportunity to speak to alumni who studied a similar course and who have lots of careers advice to offer. It's also a great networking opportunity, not only with other current students but with alumni as well.

Applications are made through an online application form. The deadline to apply for this role is 5pm on Friday 15 December.

Selection Days will be held via Teams w/c 8 January.

Students who are successful at their selection day must attend the compulsory paid training, a combination of on-demand webinars and in-person training days taking place on Saturday 10 February and Sunday 11 February at the South Kensington campus.

Callers on the team will be required to do 3 shifts per week, which includes 2 weekday shifts and 1 weekend shift. Callers can indicate if they’d prefer to work Rota A, Rota B, or if they have no preference.

  • Rota A – Mondays and Wednesdays (5.45pm – 9pm), and Saturdays (9.45am – 5pm, includes one hour break).
  • Rota B – Tuesdays and Fridays (5.45pm – 9pm), and Sundays (1.45pm – 8pm, includes one hour break).

Please see our Frequently Asked Questions for more information about the application process and the role, or for other queries contact Amy Cook (amy.cook@imperial.ac.uk).
