Summary

Monil is a Specialist Registrar in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in the North West Thames Deanery and Honorary Clinical Research Fellow at the MSk Lab.


He qualified from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2014 and was awarded Distinctions in Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Clinical Practice. In addition, he completed an Intercalated BSc in Surgery and Anaesthesia obtaining a first class honours degree and secured a competitive Academic Foundation Programme. He was subsequently awarded a NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery during which time he obtained Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons. He was awarded a Dean's Masters Scholarship at Imperial College London enabling him to complete a MSc in Health Policy graduating with a merit, completing a dissertation evaluating the clinical and cost utility of short stem hip replacements.


He is commencing a postgraduate research doctorate at Imperial College London supervised by Professor Justin Cobb working with the MSk lab and the Biomechanics Research Group. His research will evaluate the relationship between bone quality and arthroplasty outcomes, and he will work towards developing bone quality metrics and implant stability measurements to optimise surgical decision making in hip arthroplasty. He will be continuing his clinical training as a ST6 registrar at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust where he is an accredited BMA LNC Representative.
