Departmental and College Scholarships & DTPs
Many of our students are funded on one of the scholarships that are awarded through our Department, through the College or through Doctoral Training Programmes that we are affiliated with. Most of these are highly competitive and have application deadlines once a year. A list of the main deadlines (updated in the first part of each academic year) can be found under the guidelines for making an application.
Scholarships awarded through these programmes are usually for UK resident students and will cover tuition fees, bursary and sometimes a small award for research costs. Information on projects and scholarships available through the Centres of Doctoral Training to which the Department is affiliated can be found at the following links:
- NERC DTP in Science and Solutions for a Changing Planet (SSCP)
- CDT in Fluid Dynamics Across Scales
- CDT in the Mathematics of Planet Earth
A list of departmental projects that are approved for the SSCP DTP can be found here: SSCP DTP Projects
The Department of Earth Science and Engineering awards several different types of scholarships (see below). These scholarships cover tuition fees and pay a bursary (at RCUK-rate) for 3.5 years. EPSRC and STFC grants include a yearly research training support grant for the first 3 years.
