The Electrochemical Science & Engineering Group at Imperial College London works at the interface between the science and engineering of electrochemical devices, mostly focused on automotive & stationary power applications.

The group's research portfolio focuses on understanding the limits of operation, material properties, degradation mechanisms and failure modes of batteries, fuel cells, supercapacitors and redox flow cells in real world applications, and the impacts and consequences on system design, integration and control.

The group is interdisciplinary by nature and led by Professor Nigel Brandon in Earth Science Engineering, Dr Gregory Offer and Professor Ricardo Martinez-Botas in Mechanical Engineering, and Dr Billy Wu in the School of Design Engineering with close links with other electrochemistry & materials groups and the Energy Futures Lab at Imperial College London.
