Job description

Job summary

Imperial College Business School is seeking qualified applicants for a faculty position in Economics (based within the Department of Management) at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. Members of the department will be able to meet shortlisted candidates for an Assistant Professor position at the Royal Economic Society Job Fair at Westminster Business School, December 18-19 2018, and hope to attend the ASSA meetings in Atlanta, January 4-6 2019.

Essential requirements

Applicants for an Assistant Professor position should have the potential to publish innovative, rigorous, and relevant contributions in top academic journals. Candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position should demonstrate considerable excellence in research. We have a strong preference for candidates working in a field complementary to the department’s existing research interests and teaching needs, which are: applied industrial organisation, competition and regulation, digital economics, economics of innovation and productivity, energy and environmental economics, labour, law and economics, micro-econometrics or international trade.

Candidates in finance or macroeconomics are encouraged to apply instead to the Department of Finance, job reference BUS00103 by 22 November 2018.

Imperial College is committed to equality of opportunity, to eliminating discrimination and to creating an inclusive working environment. We particularly welcome applicants that will increase diversity within the Business School.

Further information

Applications should be made online via our website. Interested candidates should send their CV and a sample of up to three representative research papers (one paper is fine for candidates to be an Assistant Professor). In addition, the names of three referees who can be contacted by the College are required.

Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Richard Green (r.green@imperial.ac.uk) or Professor Carol Propper (c.propper@imperial.ac.uk).

The College is a proud signatory to the San-Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), which means that in hiring and promotion decisions, we evaluate applicants on the quality of their work, not the journal impact factor where it is published. For more information, see https://www.imperial.ac.uk/research-and-innovation/about-imperial-research/research-evaluation/

The College believes that the use of animals in research is vital to improve human and animal health and welfare. Animals may only be used in research programmes where their use is shown to be necessary for developing new treatments and making medical advances. Imperial is committed to ensuring that, in cases where this research is deemed essential, all animals in the College’s care are treated with full respect, and that all staff involved with this work show due consideration at every level.
