Job summary

The Catering and Events Department of the Campus Services Division at Imperial College London operates various cafés and restaurants and organises events in its venues located within the South Kensington, Hammersmith and White City Campuses.

Opportunities have arisen for Events Catering Assistants to assist the Senior Waiter/Waitress in the operational delivery of catering, taking responsibility for the preparation and service of catered events. You will also coordinate the Agency staff or relevant team members, ensuring all catering requirements and room layouts are met and to take operational responsibility for the provision of customer requirements.

The post holder should have an interest in Events, have good time management skills and strive to deliver excellent customer service. You must also be approachable and able to multi task and have a responsible attitude towards health and safety at work.

In addition, these roles will involve evenings, late nights and weekend work.

Essential requirements


  • Basic food hygiene qualification

  • Previous experience of working in a similar catering environment

  • Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about customer care/service

  • Ability to use own initiative with limited supervision, in order to deal with problems which may hinder the delivery of an effective service

  • Highly organised with an eye for detail and accuracy and an ability to prioritise and work quickly to cope with strict deadlines

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
