Imperial is a leader in industry-university collaborations and technology transfer and you will be an integral member of Imperial’s Enterprise Division, working with leading global companies (major sponsors are BP, Shell, Agilent Technologies, Samsung, GSK, Astra-Zeneca, Dyson, ABB, etc.) and our world class researchers to develop research and technologies through collaboration and commercialisation.
Duties and responsibilities
As a service provider to the Faculty of Engineering supporting academics in their interactions with industry and commercialisation activities, your main duties will include supporting the Director of Industry Partnerships and Commercialisation (IPC), Faculty of Engineering and the IPC Senior Executives and Executives as appropriate in:
- Assessment of research discoveries, analysis and evaluation, and advancement of those technologies through to market adoption via collaboration with industry, access to translational funds, licensing or spin out;
- Promoting College’s licensing portfolio and research capabilities and securing commercialisation and/or collaborative research income;
- Managing key stakeholder relationships;
We are looking for applicants with a good appreciation for research and development in a relevant field (medtech, engineering, computing etc.) and a passion for technology transfer to help us turn Imperial’s research into inventions that address real world needs.
You should also demonstrate an understanding and ideally some experience of translation of University innovations into commercial products.
Strong delivery focus, excellent communication skills coupled with an understanding of the academic environment are also essential.
This career opportunity will maximise to the full your experience and interest in roles such as Enterprise Officer, Strategic Relationship Manager, Research and Business Partnership Manager, Licensing Executive or Associate and Technology Transfer Manager within the pharmaceutical, chemicals, technology, engineering, higher education, government sectors or similar.
