[07/08/26] A new doctor in our group. On August 7, Mr. Antonio Malpica-Morales successfully passed his PhD viva. The internal examiner was Prof. Ronny Pini, from our Department of Chemical Engineering, and the external examiner was Prof. Christian Beck, Director of the Centre for Complex Systems, School of Mathematical Sciences, Queen Mary University of London.
Antonio did a superb job defending his thesis: the session quickly moved beyond a traditional defence into a high-level scientific discussion that left both examiners thoroughly impressed. They agreed on endorsing the outcome as a pass with no corrections. An outstanding result for Antonio and for our group, and a proud reward for all the effort of these years. Congratulations, Dr. Antonio Malpica-Morales!
Following the examination, we celebrated the occasion with a social gathering.
