Your Cancer Journey: Helping others act sooner (YCJ)

YCJ supports the work of CLOCS-1 and CLOCS-2 by exploring the pathway from first symptom to diagnosis. Through interviews, we aim to understand how people make sense of symptoms, what they do about them, and what shapes decisions about when to seek medical help. The study focuses on four cancer types: colorectal, oesophageal, ovarian, and pancreatic.

Study aims and objectives

To better understand what influences self-care, coping, and help-seeking before a cancer diagnosis, we are recruiting up to 80 individuals across the UK (up to 20 per cancer type). We aim to use the findings to explore ways to help people to get an earlier diagnosis.

Who can take part

  • Adults aged 18 and over and who are able to take part in an English language interview
  • Individuals who received a diagnosis of either colorectal, oesophageal, ovarian, or pancreatic cancer within the last 15 months
  • Individuals who were living in the UK leading up to their diagnosis and who received their diagnosis from an NHS medical provider

We are now recruiting
