Art with Pastels for Beginners is a practical introduction to one of the most colourful and immediate of artistic media. Pastels can be used to create richly observed studies, bold expressive images and everything in between.

Over the course, you will learn essential technical and creative skills, including how to use different kinds of pastel, blend and layer colour, build tone, and create texture. You will work from a range of subjects and visual references selected by your tutor, while experimenting with approaches from careful observation to more personal and expressive work.

You will also discover how artists have used pastel in different periods and styles, providing inspiration and context for your own developing practice.

This adult education course is open to everyone. No previous experience is necessary.

Reading material or special equipment needed (if any)

You will need to provide your own art materials. Details will be sent to you before the start of the course.
