Life cycle-related teaching is part of a number of courses at Imperial College London.

The Environmental Resource Management option on the MSc Environmental Technology course includes a day’s teaching exploring Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) concepts and an introduction to the SimaPro LCA software. Students are introduced to the life cycle concept and various life cycle tools, given an introduction to the SimaPro LCA software and complete a group exercise evaluating the use of environmental assessment tools.

Life Cycle teaching is also part of the Energy Futures Lab’s MSc Sustainable Energy Futures, where LCA is taught as part of the bioenergy module. In addition to lectures on the methodology and the discussion of case studies, the students can take part in a group modelling project using the SimaPro LCA software.

Our network members at Imperial also conduct consultancy projects on the following topics:

  • Peer-reviewing
  • Life cycle assessment frameworks
  • Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon footprint analyses
