What is the Healthy Volunteer Database?

The Healthy Volunteer Database is essentially a list of people who have said they would like to hear from us about any future research studies that they could take part in.
If you would like to join the database, we will ask you for information including your name, age, gender, height and weight, ethnicity, and whether you smoke. From this information, we can contact you regarding studies that you may be eligible for.

Then, when a study opens at the ICRF that is looking for volunteers that you may be eligible for based on the above information, we will contact you with the details you’ve provided and you can choose whether to find out more.

Once you’ve completed a study you will be compensated for your time and inconvenience, typically at a rate of between £25 – £100 per visit. However, this varies depending on the nature and design of the study. You can ask to be removed from the database at any time.

How to become a healthy volunteer

If you would like to volunteer for a healthy volunteer study in the Imperial Clinical Research Facility please complete the form.

We will then contact you when we have a study that you may be eligible for based on this information. Your details will be kept confidential, and you can ask to be removed from the database at any time.

If you are interested in being recruited for a specific study that you have seen advertised or have any questions please email imperial.recruitment.icrf@nhs.net or call 020 3313 8082.
