kate_picHi!

I am on the experimentalist side of the group working on nucleic acid nanotechnologies. My goal is to develop a microfluidic platform able to sustain continuously-operating RNA strand-displacement networks. This work is supervised by Dr Thomas Ouldridge, Dr Claire Stanley and Prof. Guy-Bart Stan.

I joined this lab in October 2021 through the fantastic opportunity that is the 4-year BioDesign engineering CDT program. I am currently doing an MRes in system and synthetic biology, and will continue onto a PhD in October 2022. Before joining the CDT program, I studied towards a BSc in Biosciences at the university of Durham.

My research interests lie primarily in artificial life and biotechnology. My goal for the next few years is to develop research skills and expertise at the interface of biology, physics and engineering.
