Prof Bobby Acharya
Affiliations
Dr Acharya’s expertise is in understanding how string and M-theory can address key questions in particle physics, dark matter and cosmology. He has made major contributions towards a better understanding of confinement and the nature of chiral fermions. He is also actively contributing to various measurements of the properties of the top quark and the Higgs boson at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.
Dr Acharya was awarded the Lawrence Bragg Gold Medal and Prize in 2018 from the Institute of Physics for his outstanding contributions to teaching and promoting physics in developing countries. He was recognized for driving projects like Physics Without Frontiers and the African School of Fundamental Physics and Applications, strengthening physics research globally.
We are delighted to welcome Dr Acharya at Imperial as a Kibble Fellow in the Salam Centre at Imperial where he will be a regular visitor and drive key engagements activities with ICTP and the Global South. He is currently staying in office Huxley H607.
