Christianity has a long and rich history of meditation and contemplative prayer going back to the desert hermits and Jesus’ own times of solitude and teaching on prayer.
Many practices are now shared by Christians from Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox Churches. There are also resonances with contemporary Mindfulness.
The sessions offer a range of meditation practices including:
- silence and stillness
- slow reading of scripture
- meditation to review the day or a project
- using imagination to encouter the gospels
- using experience and emotions in prayer
- discernment when making changes in life.
