Abstract

Forensic experts of the Brazilian Federal Police have been working on important environmental crimes occurred in Brazil. Forensic reports describe damages in the environmental compartments and their relationship with humans, fauna and flora. Despite the difficulty in assessing environmental damage costs and remediation procedures, forensic reports should contain this information, which is considered important during the legal and trial proceedings. The seminar will present some real examples of environmental investigations conducted by forensic experts of the Brazilian Federal Police and the efforts to appraise environmental damages during forensic examinations.
