Akos Nyerges`s research targets healthcare and biotechnology with the aid of bacterial synthetic biology. To understand human health threatening evolutionary processes and allow for a better production of high-value bioproducts, he is advancing the methodological repertoire of microbial genome engineering. By building on their recent pORTMAGE technology, he is focusing on accelerated laboratory evolution to rationally design antimicrobial agents and to combat multidrug resistant bacteria.
